The Career Changers School Experience Programme aims to provide eligible career changers with in-depth experience and understanding of teachers’ roles and responsibilities via a 10-day school placement. The programme is open to eligible, graduate career changers, often with managerial experience, interested in teaching maths, physics, and chemistry as a priority.
Host schools are expected to provide a structured programme for participants that will promote confidence, knowledge and understanding about life in schools today. This will include classroom observation and hands on experience including the opportunity to plan and deliver part, or all, of a session. Schools must also give participants time for reflection and review.
A pilot of the programme generated positive feedback from participating schools and we are now expanding the programme nationally. If you would like further information, or to register your school’s interest, please e-mail louise.guy@tda.gov.uk.
