TDA online events - Rules of use
Before participating in a TDA online event you are required to agree to the rules of use listed below. These have been compiled to make sure that everyone involved in the event maximizes the opportunity to talk to our online advisers.
IMPORTANT: TDA online events are primarily aimed at graduate career changers and current undergraduates interested in teaching in England and Wales.
Your questions and messages
As a public online event any communication you submit must be tasteful and relevant to the discussion topic. While all events will be fully moderated we are committed to providing a live event atmosphere that is beneficial and relevant to all those attending.
- No swearing, abusive or discriminatory language. Any language that is unlawful, abusive, threatening, harassing, defamatory, harmful, sexually oriented, racially offensive, or objectionable in any way is not acceptable.
- The events will be run in English only. Messages containing other languages will be blocked by the Moderator.
- You must be respectable at all times.
- We will not publish any advertising related messages.
- Impersonating someone else is unacceptable.
- An inappropriate username will not be accepted and you will be removed from the event.
- Usernames chosen by you will be used and published in historical transcripts on the TDA website. Using personal details as your username may make you identifiable. Please take this into consideration when choosing/entering your username.
- We will not publish personal details such as e-mail addresses, phone numbers or personally sensitive information. The Moderator will edit these details out of your message before sending it live.
- Only submit teaching and career related messages that are relevant to the discussion topic. If you post a message that is not relevant the Moderator will block your message.
- If you ask our guest speaker a question that they are unable to answer in the event we will do our best to find out the answer and include the response in the transcript that will go online the day following the event.
- Comments must not contain material copied from other sources, which infringes any third party’s property rights.
- In no event will the administrators of this online events programme be liable to you or anybody else for damages, including any general, special, incidental or consequential damages, arising out of the inability to attend an event, or arising from the actions from you or any other users attending the events.
Accessing the event
- You will require Flash v6 or above to be able to run the Flash based event software. If you do not have this installed you can download the software for free at the Macromedia site.
- If you cannot access the event please e-mail your questions to tdaevents@klp.co.uk or you can telephone the Teaching Information Line: 0845 6000 991(Minicom: 01245 454 343) to speak to an adviser.
Your privacy
- TDA will not publish or provide your email address or mobile number to anyone to communicate with you outside of the TDA. We ask that you sign-up to our events to validate your attendance and personal information. If you have actively opted in to receive communication from the TDA we may contact you after an event to obtain feedback so we can continuously improve the experience for users. All feedback is purely for internal monitoring purposes only. If you have requested to receive TDA communication you may also be contacted with other TDA related news at a later date.
- All messages posted by the Moderator during a live online event are viewable by all users.
The law
- You agree to only post materials to which you have the copyright or other permission to distribute electronically. You may not violate, plagiarise, or infringe on the rights of third parties. Any such messages will be blocked by the Moderator.
- You may not post any defamatory or illegal material of any nature in the TDA online events. Posting a message with the intention of committing an illegal act is strictly prohibited.
What happens if the rules aren’t followed?
- If you fail to abide by the rules of use, you will immediately be banned from participating in the event and all future events by the Moderator. Depending on the nature of the ban, the Moderator may notify you and the reason for your ban. You will not be able to enter the room under a different username. The Moderator may, at a later date lift the ban so that you can participate in other online events.
- The TDA reserves the right to edit, delete or refuse any message, at any time, for any reason.
