Teachers benefit from extra training
Teachers in Nottinghamshire are set to benefit from extra training, to encourage more students into cricket.
Funding from Trent Bridge cricket team's sponsors PKF and Sportsmatch have helped kick start the government scheme, which is designed to boost community sports in England, reports the Chad.
The sponsors have forked out for coaches to train teachers how to use Kwik Cricket equipment in their physical education (PE) lessons.
Chris Ballard is sport partnership development manager at Rushcliffe School, which is taking part in the scheme.
He told the paper: "PKF's sponsorship will provide us with high-quality equipment, resources and training.
"We are constantly striving to improve the quality and delivery of PE in our schools and this can only help us achieve that aim."
Mr Ballard added that he hopes the initiative will encourage more pupils to take up or at least watch more cricket and maybe even produce a future Nottingham star.
In related news, teachers in Bath from one state and one independent school have formed an alliance to create winning sports teams, reports the Bath Chronicle.
