Teachers at a primary school in Devon have been championed by Ofsted inspectors, according to new reports.

Based in Ottery St Mary in Devon, The King's School was praised for being "well led" by a "dynamic" headteacher who has spearheaded improvements in standards throughout the school.

Inspectors said: "The headteacher, with the support of the senior leadership team and the experienced and well-informed governing body, provides a clear vision for the school.

"A sure sign of the strength of the leadership of the headteacher is the manner in which autonomy is being devolved to heads of department so that they are more actively involved in the monitoring and development of their subjects."

The King's School is a heavily oversubscribed comprehensive school that caters for around 1,300 students.

It has established specialist status as a sports college and has recently become a training school.

Headteacher at The King's School, Faith Jarrett, told the Exeter Express and Echo of her satisfaction with the report.

She said: "We are delighted by the outcome of the inspection. The Ofsted inspectors were particularly impressed with the excellent behaviour and positive attitude of the students."ADNFCR-1162-ID-18364799-ADNFCR
