Templars School wins Ofsted acclaim

Templars Primary school in Coventry has won acclaim from Ofsted, following its most recent inspection.

Reporting inspector Marian Harker found that the school, which teaches 488 pupils aged between three and 11, to be of a "good" standard, which is the second-highest rating Ofsted can award.

She said that the school was distinguished by its "caring ethos" and noted that the establishment was also working effectively with outside agencies and parents.

"A strength of the school is that pupils' personal development and wellbeing are outstanding. Pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development are particularly strong," said Ms Harker.

Pupils were described as "polite and mature" young people, who had developed a respect of the teachers they learn with every day.

In related news, the BBC reportd children around the UK are increasingley opting to take vocational qualifications, pressure group the Edge has revealed.

The group says there are now 155,000 of these types of qualifications taken in schools each year, which is double the amount in the previous period.
