A primary school in the Hertfordshire village of Orwell has been praised by schools inspectorate Ofsted for its progress in improving standards.

The report by the governing body described Petersfield Primary School as "good" and an establishment that "made outstanding contributions to the community", according to a report by the Royston Crow.

Ofsted also acknowledged the role of high targets and the maximisation of achievements as major factors in the school's success.

Headteacher Amanda Tuck told the newspaper that she and her colleagues were extremely happy with the report, which she said had proved how far the school had come within the last several years.

She continued: "The staff team are excellent and morale is high. This is a school in which everyone knows and understands what good learning is."

Another primary school, Wootton's St Andrew's Church of England Primary School, was also praised after the Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph reported the inspectorate's grade of "outstanding" for the establishment.ADNFCR-1162-ID-18778262-ADNFCR
