“I work with a lot of headteachers and I’d heard on the grapevine about the framework – it is getting a wonderfully good press. I was enthusiastic about it based on what I had heard, and am extremely enthusiastic about it now I have found out more,” said Professor Desforges.
“Headteachers are all really devoted to the Every Child Matters (ECM) agenda – it runs with the grain of their values, where many other initiatives don’t. The TDA’s school improvement planning framework makes the aspirations of ECM realistic and practical to achieve. It helps schools take ownership of this aspiration and think through all the multifaceted requirements of making ECM real.”
The framework is a new approach to school improvement planning that enables participation by the community, parents, pupils and the whole school workforce. It aims to make the needs of the child integral to school improvement planning and help schools establish links between standards of achievement and pupil well-being and plan and deliver support and services with a demonstrable impact.
“There are lots of planning tools around. This framework is different in that it is conceptually coherent with a clear focus on ECM, and how to deliver it through extended services and personalisation.”
