Conference report: 14-19 Diploma ITT

The 14-19 Diploma Initial Teacher Training (ITT) conference beat the snow and attracted 118 delegates from across England and some very positive feedback. Hosted in January by the TDA’s Priorities for Partnership team, the conference focussed on the role of ITT providers in supporting the development of the diploma programmes.

Delegates gathered at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole hotel to hear speakers from eight universities and colleges. The presentations were on a range of topics relating to the providers’ work with local authorities, consortia and employers.

Delegates also gained insights into good practice and how to support trainee teachers across strand 1 (core offer), 2 (with experience) and 3 (specialist offer) programmes.

A video pod and ‘question wall’ were used to communicate ideas and facilitated a high level of discussion. Workshops, and materials provided by delegates and the Diploma Development Partnerships, further encouraged and supported ITT providers to engage with the 14–19 diplomas.

The 17 lines of learning in the diplomas were all represented with stands offering literature and brochures for delegates.
