A new funding/delivery model will replace current subject knowledge training provision, including existing subject knowledge booster courses, subject knowledge enhancement and extension courses, and extended postgraduate initial teacher training (ITT) courses due to finish in 2008/09.
The changes are intended to reduce the administrative burden on ITT providers, while increasing the overall number of training places pre- and during ITT for applicants who require additional subject knowledge training. The total amount of provision supported, particularly in maths, physics and chemistry, will substantially increase.
ITT providers will be invited to bid for an allocation of subject knowledge development places for the next three academic years (08/09, 09/10 and 10/11). The deadline for bids is likely to be at the end of July 2008 and we intend to issue allocations early in the Autumn 2008 term. Please e-mail your provider link adviser for further information.
