ITT professional resource networks: evaluation published

The University of Leeds’ evaluation of the teacher training resource bank (TTRB), Multiverse and Behaviour4Learning websites, commissioned by the TDA, is now online. The evaluation assessed the benefits of the service to users notably initial teacher training (ITT) providers and trainees and identified any lessons to be learned in relation to web-based projects.

Leeds University’s research was conducted in three phases. Phases 1 and 2 involved the Multiverse, Behaviour4Learning and TTRB project teams, an identified sample of users of the sites (including both trainers and trainees), other stakeholders and the evaluation team. They reviewed how sites were being used, the perceived impact of the sites and agreed a set of recommendations for change and improvement. Phase 3 still underway consists of collaboration with providers in order to monitor further the use of the sites. The intended output is to inform a judgement on the effects of the recommendations from phases 1 and 2 that have been implemented.

The first three reports, relating to phases 1 and 2, can be accessed on the TDA website by visiting the link at the foot of this item.

A summary of findings from phases 1 and 2 includes:

  • Trainers and trainees who used the sites found them to be a very useful resource of relevant and up-to-date materials to inform their teaching and their personal research
  • TTRB, Multiverse and Behaviour4Learning made a positive contribution to the enhancement of the quality of the training provided
  • The e-librarian was viewed as a very positive feature of the sites by trainers and trainees alike
  • Trainers and trainees felt confident in using materials from the sites in the knowledge that these had been reviewed and approved for inclusion on the sites

The final report, relating to phase 3, will be available soon. It will cover changes in the use of the websites, aspects of the site that were found to be useful and dimensions of the site that could be improved.

See the ITT professional resource networks page for the first three reports, relating to phases 1 and 2.
