School networks for parents begins pilot promotion

Community networks for parents have been set up on the Netmums website for every secondary school in the country. Now, Netmums, along with DadTalk, are working to promote the networks to parents in three pilot areas.

The DCSF-funded project, described in the 21st Century Schools White Paper, has been commissioned to help parents and schools engage more effectively. The aim is to support parents by helping them build personal networks around schools and to share information about topics such as homework, pocket money and after school activities.

Netmums, along with DadTalk, have started work to promote the networks to parents in three pilot areas: Southwark, Hillingdon and North Herts. They're looking for opportunities to reach out to parents in these areas and ask anyone hosting relevant meetings or events, which parents at the school could attend, to get in touch with Lucy Chahil, Schools Network Coordinator.
