Over 50 local authorities have taken advantage of the regional trainers' support made available to their region to assist their schools with implementing the revised performance management regulations. Nearly 1,000 teachers and headteachers took part in face-to-face briefings with trainers during the summer term.
Following demand, trainer support has been extended to include briefings on the revised framework of professional standards for teachers and links between performance management, the standards and continuing professional development.
Trainers can support local authorities by providing briefings on the standards to teachers, headteachers, school improvement partners, governors, newly qualified teachers who have successfully completed thier induction year and the authority's own unattached teachers. In addition they can work with local authority staff and trainers to co-design training events for schools and other audiences which incorporate briefings and activities designed to promote understanding and use of the standards in the context of performance management.
The revised framework of professional standards for teachers can be accessed on the TDA website. Hard copies are available to order on 0845 6060 323 or by emailing epublications@tda.gov.uk
