Professor Sir Brian Follett

Chair of the Arts and Humanities Research Board and Professor of Zoology, University of Oxford

Photo of Brian Follett Professor Follett is a professor of zoology at Oxford University where he teaches animal physiology. He chairs the STEM Advisory Forum for DCSF/DIUS. From 2000 until 2007 he chaired the Arts and Humanities Research Council / Board. 

From 1993 until 2001 he was Vice-Chancellor at Warwick University and before that was Head of Biological Sciences for fifteen years at Bristol University. He has conducted reviews for the government on matters as diverse as the foot-and-mouth outbreak in 2001, university libraries and the removal, retention and disposal of human organs at Alder Hey Children's Hospital. 

He was a member of the Higher Education Funding Council (HEFCE), the BBRC/AFRC, and for seven years, Vice-President and Biological Secretary at the Royal Society.
