TDA equality schemes

The TDA's race and disability equality scheme (RDES) and the gender equality scheme (GES) outline our commitment to equality in the way we employ staff, provide services and work with partners.

The TDA believes it can successfully achieve the targets set out in the Strategic Plan by ensuring fairness is at the heart of the way in which we work. We have always recognised that the promotion of equality and an inclusive approach are key factors to our success.

These schemes set out our vision and priorities in promoting race, disability and gender equality; the action plans identify specific steps that will help us succeed in achieving this vision.

We will monitor and report progress against the action plans annually. It is highly likely that the existing legislative framework for public sector equality schemes will change with the introduction of the Equality Act 2010. We are looking forward to the introduction of this Act which will bring a joined-up and consistent approach to equality.

The new Act is likely to place emphasis on equality outcomes when it replaces the existing legislation. We will monitor the introduction of the Act to ensure that we can meet its challenges.

August 2010 update

During the course of August and September 2010 the TDA has undertaken a number of organisational changes. So far as the RDES is concerned, these changes mostly affect the Corporate Services Directorate and the Scheme and its action plan have been amended to ensure that commitments and actions are still met.

We welcome all comments, suggestions and advice that will help us improve the schemes. Please e-mail any comments about the schemes, or any other equality issues to equality@tda.gov.uk, or send a letter to:
