The TDA’s principal aim is to improve children’s life chances by developing an effective school workforce that raises educational standards and provides every child with the opportunity to fulfil his or her potential. The annual report and accounts describe the measures which the TDA has taken to achieve this aim.
During the year the TDA worked with partners to:
- recruit almost 39,000 new trainees to initial teacher training (ITT) courses – including more than 3,600 to science ITT courses
- increase by more than 10,000 the number of schools which offer the full core of extended services
- increase teachers’ and schools’ commitment to continuing professional development
- enhance the diversity of the school workforce
- improve the quality and relevance of training for teachers and school support staff
