Professional development of the children's workforce in schools

We have also developed a strategy for the professional development of the children's workforce in schools.

The strategy sets out our vision to embed a learning culture within, and across, all schools that maximises the potential of the school workforce. This should enable children and young people to achieve the best outcomes possible. It also identifies the priorities that will underpin our work in this area from 2009–2012:

  • Priority one: embed a learning culture
  • Priority two: increase coherence and collaboration
  • Priority three: improve quality and capacity
