This core programme is available free of charge to anyone on the National College website. If you already have experience as a CPD leader and would like to develop your knowledge of theory and practice at your own pace, this option may suit you.
The online programme will introduce participants to the key areas of knowledge and current research in CPD leadership. Using examples and case studies, it will guide participants through some key issues facing CPD leaders, including:
- legislation, national initiatives, key definitions and perspectives on the strategic leadership of CPD
- how to create a learning culture that embraces all members of the school's workforce
- models of the distributed leadership of CPD
- what makes CPD effective, with a particular focus on collaborative approaches such as coaching and personalised CPD
- how to connect CPD, performance management and review to professional and occupational standards
- techniques for evaluating the impact of CPD
- mechanisms for sharing and embedding new professional knowledge.
You can register on the National College website or you can e-mail leadershippathways@nationalcollege.org.uk for details. If you are not already a National College member you will still be able to register free to undertake the module as an associate member, but registration may take 2–3 working days to process before you have access to the module and its associated resources.
The masters-level programme, taught by a range of higher education institutions (HEIs), provides 30 masters credits and will be available in all regions of England.
