Quality assurance
School profile
Your annual school profile can include information about skills for life development and achievements. This will help reassure parents that staff have the necessary skills and qualifications to support their children’s achievement and ensure their well-being.
Ofsted
Developing skills for life can help you meet the Ofsted criteria. For example:
- evidence of effectively developing skills for life across the school workforce will contribute to meeting the standards for effective leadership and management
- evidence of raising literacy, language and numeracy standards of classroom support staff will contribute to meeting the standards for effective teaching and learning, and
- providing family literacy, language and numeracy programmes will help meet the standards for effective teaching and learning as well as having a positive impact on pupils’ learning and achievements.
Investors in People
Developing skills, including literacy, language and numeracy, is a key part of the Investors in People standard. Promoting skills for life will help show that you are addressing critical aspects of workforce development.
Other standards
Improving literacy, language and numeracy will also help your staff understand and meet other quality standards, such as the Basic Skills Agency Quality Mark and the Healthy Schools nutritional standards.
