Draft foundation degree framework consultation
To ensure that foundation degrees meet the needs of the school workforce, we are producing a framework for providers. The draft document is now available for consultation and we ask stakeholders, including, but not limited to universities, colleges, employers, local authorities, sector skills councils and members of the school workforce to submit any comments they may have on the framework.
Following completion of the consultation, this document will be revised to reflect comments/views from stakeholders.

Give your views on the SWiS qualification
In order to continue to improve the quality of training and development available to support staff, we have commissioned an impact assessment of the support work in schools (SWiS) qualification.
The objective of the research is to see how well the qualification meets the needs of learners and schools, and to identify areas for improvement. It will also provide us with key feedback on its funding, communications and training strategies. Pye Tait Limited, an independent research company, are carrying out this study and would like to hear from current and former learners on the SWiS qualifications, their school leaders and line managers, as well as training providers who are delivering the training and assessment.
If you are one of these people and would like to feedback your opinion online, please e-mail swis@pyetait.com to be given access to the survey. Please include your job title and a brief description of your relation to or experience of the SWiS qualification in your e-mail. The survey is open until the end of June 2008.
Draft sector qualifications strategy consultation
The sector qualifications strategy describes the current situation with regard to qualifications for support staff, explains the main drivers for change and proposes a sound foundation for future development. We are proposing a new competency framework for support staff qualifications along with a number of other changes. Our intention is to ensure that qualifications meet the needs of the sector, allow for progression and reflect other changes in the children’s workforce.
To ensure that the strategy represents the views and opinions of stakeholders, we are now inviting comments on the draft strategy.
