It is important that all staff have the skills they need to do their job and feel confident about their own literacy and numeracy. Qualifications can also be a requirement for career progression, for example to higher level teaching assistant (HLTA) status.
Level 2 qualifications in mathematics and English are available through local training providers and local authorities can help school leaders identify suitable courses for members of their support team.
