The Training and Development Agency for schools (TDA) is participating in the Learning and Skills Council’s Training Quality Standard scheme. The scheme recognises training providers that are highly focused on meeting the needs of employers and can demonstrate vocational excellence.
- The first (part A) assesses the provider’s capability to build and manage relationships with employers and be responsive to their needs.
- The second part (part B) assesses the training provider’s practice and achievements in meeting the needs of employers in a particular vocational sector.
Training providers can use this framework to assess and improve their provision regardless of whether they choose to seek certification with the scheme.
Potential benefits for school leaders
The Training Quality Standard scheme will support schools and local authorities as purchasers of training by:
- providing a national identifiable quality ‘badge’
- making the task of selecting a reliable training provider easier
- raising awareness of what to look for in a training provider
- reducing the risk of selecting inappropriate training
