A consultation on the accreditation of designated recommending bodies (DRBs) will contribute to a new approach to accreditation and the allocation of training places.
A consultation was carried out between April and June 2004 on:
- how DRBs can become accredited as providers of initial teacher training (ITT)
- the Training and Development Agency for Schools' (TDA) new approach to accreditation, and
- the allocation of TDA-funded training places.
The basis for the consultation was agreed by the Agency's board in January 2004. A consultation paper was sent to all providers of ITT and representative organisations. The responses were collated and a report on the findings of the consultation was published on 25 November 2004. A copy of the consultation report is available for download.
