In their first three terms as a teacher, a newly qualified teacher (NQT) can expect a tailored programme of training and support designed to equip them for the classroom and lay the foundations for their future development.
There is no such thing as a standard programme because induction is unique to each new teacher. But NQTs can expect to work with and observe other teachers in action, visit other schools and take part in formal training. During their induction programme they'll be assessed against the national core standards for teachers.
