Q30 Establish a purposeful and safe learning environment conducive to learning and identify opportunities for learners to learn in out-of-school contexts.

Teachers create environments for learning that stimulate interest, value learning, and support collaboration and independence. They organise and manage the physical teaching space and teaching and learning resources safely and effectively, and they create and maintain positive contexts for learning in which they are able to teach and where learners feel safe, secure, and able to enjoy their learning.

Teachers establish a clear framework for discipline, coordinated with the school's behaviour management policy, and communicate their expectations clearly to learners. Teachers' identification of suitable out-of-classroom and out-of-school opportunities draws on their knowledge of the curriculum, of the age, ability, experience and needs of learners, and of how such learning experiences can be undertaken safely.
