A consultation was carried out between July and November 2004 on changes to the arrangements for the inspection of initial teacher training. The basis for the consultation was agreed by the TDA board in May 2004.
A consultation paper was sent to all providers of ITT and representative organisations. The respective boards of the TDA and Ofsted met recently to review the proposals. The outcomes of the consultation, the national conference and focus groups have assisted in making the final decisions.
The key outcome is that the second half of the current inspection programme 2005-08 will be cancelled and replaced with a revised six-year programme to run from 2005-11.
The responses to the consultation were collated and a report on the findings of the consultation was published in April 2005.
