Based on research with academics and 400 trainee teachers from the University of Southampton, Canterbury Christ Church University, Middlesex University and the University of Brighton, e-safety training was recognised as a requirement for current trainee teachers, existing teachers and other adults working with children. The resource is aimed at the secondary sector and builds on the success of Know IT All for Parents which, in its first six months, was distributed by schools to some one million parents.
Know IT All for Teachers was officially launched on 10 December 2007.
- View the Know IT All for Trainee Teachers microsite
- E-safety DVDs have been sent to all training providers in England and further copies are available free of charge at www.childnet-int.org/kia/traineeteachers/why.aspx or www.childnet-int.org/order/. DVDs produced for training providers are to be used by tutors as part of e-safety lessons provided to primary and secondary trainee teachers.
- E-safety leaflets can be downloaded from Childnet International
The possibility of raising e-safety awareness in the primary sector is currently being explored. Along with the above mentioned partners, the TDA will also be working closely on this project with the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP).
