Training and development

School support staff who wish to achieve HLTA status but have not met all the standards may receive training locally through their school, local authority or training providers.

To ascertain whether a candidate needs to undergo any training or development activity local authorities (LAs) conduct a training needs analysis against the standards and allocate funding for this training.

Regional providers of assessment (RPAs) are responsible for providing LAs with a training needs analysis tool, if requested, and are able to offer guidance and support on finding training. They also work closely with training providers (TPs) to ensure sufficient training courses linked to the HLTA standards are available in their region.
