The TDA offers a proven change programme that provides skills, tools and techniques to help schools to embed a flexible, inclusive and effective way of working to meet new challenges and further develop a positive and proactive culture. It aims to build sustainable capacity and capability within the system to support the implementation of government policy.
Our team comprises a mix of educationalists, public sector specialists and change management consultants.
We work closely with and through a number of different partners including the workforce agreement monitoring group (WAMG) (10 organisations representing employers, the government and school workforce unions), regional government offices and local authorities. On extended schools remodelling we work closely with ContinYou and 4Children to provide support to schools and local authorities.
We have a network of regional delivery partnerships of advisers, trainers and consultants, to support each LA in working with the country's 23,500 schools to embed a sustainable 'remodelling' change programme. We also engage with, amongst others, governor associations, the voluntary and community sector, elected members, providers of health and youth justice services.
Our work currently focuses on the following areas:
Remodelling
- providing challenge and support to build sustainable change capacity and capability
- learning and sharing innovative and effective practices within and between schools and partners
- supporting local authorities in their work to join up services and grow their capacity to support schools
National agreement
- successfully developing individual solutions to meet the requirements of the national agreement
- continuing to ensure compliance with the national agreement contractual changes
- focusing teachers’ time and energies on teaching and learning
- supporting the development of enhanced roles for school support staff
- encouraging schools to explore the wider implications of workforce reform
Performance management
- supporting the implementation of the revised performance management regulations
- ensuring that professional standards, CPD and performance management are aligned
Extended schools
- applying the remodelling change process to support schools and other agencies deliver the extended services core offer
- promoting the school improvement planning framework to assist heads and senior leaders integrate extended services into their plans
Targeted youth support
- supporting government offices in the implementation of targeted youth support across local areas, and
- helping partners in local authority children's trusts build on their existing work and redesign their targeted support for young people with a risk of poor outcomes
The work of the TDA involves a combination of training events, learning networks, focus groups, coaching and targeted 1-2-1 support.
