What does it mean for local authorities?

Local authorities (LAs) have played a key role in supporting schools as they implement the contractual changes arising from the agreement.

The provision of support and challenge to schools from LAs is vital in ensuring the strategies they adopt are sustainable and consistent with the spirit of the agreement in that they are both raising standards and tackling workload.

Each LA in England has a local authority workforce team member (LAWTM), working with a team of remodelling consultants, who is the main contact for schools. LAs also facilitate local remodelling steering groups which mirror the social partnership structures at national WAMG.

LAWTMs also work closely with a team of our regional advisers and with the TDA as a whole to support schools.
