Booking your QTS skills tests

All QTS skills tests bookings must be made via our online booking page.  A username and password is required to access this site. In order to obtain these you will need to register your details on line.

Not registered yet? For more information on the registration process, go to the registering for the QTS skills tests page . Once registered, you will receive your username and password. You can then book your test at the time, date and test centre that suits you best.

Please note that there will be certain times of the year which are more popular than others (for example, October, November and school holidays) when you may need to book your test well in advance.

Important information about the booking process

The username and password fields are case sensitive so please be sure to enter them exactly as set out in the confirmation email you should have received after successfully registering.

Unless you need special arrangements, you should select the standard version of each test. The standard versions are listed as NUM1, LIT1 and ICT1. For information on how to book tests with special arrangements, visit the special arrangements page.

There are approximately 50 test centres located across England. You will be prompted to select the test centre where you wish to take your test. For details of your nearest test centre go to the find a test centre page on this website.

Test centres need to know in advance when you will be attending. For this reason, test availability is only displayed 48 hours from the date you are booking. Tests can usually be booked up to three months in advance.

When you have selected a time and date for your test the details will be displayed on screen; please ensure you carefully review these before continuing.  Once you have confirmed the details of the test you will be given the option to ‘book test’.  The test booking will not be made until this option has been selected.

You will receive an on-screen confirmation of your booking and an e-mail confirming the test details as well as directions to the test centre. You must bring this confirmation email with you to the test centre. If you do not receive the e-mail, please check your booking by logging on to the booking website and selecting ‘view booked tests’.

If you wish to book another test in a different subject area, you will need to go through the booking process again.  You are able to book all three skills tests on the same day providing there is availability at the test centre, however, it is advisable to leave at least one hour between each test.

Please note that you can only have one test booked in each subject at any one time.

Should you wish to reschedule or cancel a booked test you are able to do this by selecting ‘view booked tests’, however, if you wish to cancel a test on the day of the booking you are advised to contact the candidate helpdesk.

Test records

After successfully completing a QTS skills test in any subject area you will receive a print out confirming your pass.  This is for your own records only and is not formal certification of having passed a QTS skills test.  Should you happen to lose this print out you are able to access it by logging into your account and selecting ‘view test records’.

Test results are uploaded by test centres to our database on a daily basis, however, this process can take up to 48 hours.  Candidates are strongly advised to check that their record has been updated correctly after each successful test.  This can be done by logging into your account and selecting ‘view test records’.
