1. The primary ID must include your photograph, name and signature.
Only the following can be accepted as the primary ID:
- Passport
- British photo driving licence
- Photo student card/Photo student union card
NB: If any of the above DO NOT have your photograph, name and signature on and/or are not current and official, then they will NOT be considered valid.
2. The secondary ID must include your name and signature .
ID that has your photo, name and signature but is not listed above can only be accepted as your secondary ID.
Alternative ID form
If you do not have an official ID with your photograph, name and signature from the list above, the alternative ID form will be accepted as an alternative. Only the current version of this form (the version requiring a stamp) will be accepted. This can be accessed using the link on the right.
Please note that:
- the form can ONLY be signed by the head or deputy head of the school at which you are teaching or a senior faculty member at your training provider. The person signing the form will be contacted to verify the information given,
- the official stamp of the school or training provider must partially cover your photo, and
- you must take both the original form and a photocopy to the test centre each time you visit. The photocopy will be retained by the test centre.
This form must be completed in full. If the form is not properly completed and a copy not provided it will not be accepted.
Change of name
The name on both your proof of ID documents should match the name with which you registered for the QTS skills tests.
If you have recently married and registered under your maiden name, but have ID in your married name, you will be allowed to take the test if you provide a copy of your marriage certificate as well as the required two pieces of ID.
