Apprenticeship frameworks for supporting teaching and learning

The TDA manages the apprenticeship frameworks for supporting teaching and learning (STL) in schools at level 2, Intermediate, and 3, Advanced.

The apprenticeships are suitable for:

  • teaching/classroom assistants
  • learning support assistants
  • special needs assistants
  • additional needs assistants
  • behaviour support assistants/coordinators
  • pastoral/welfare support
  • bilingual support assistants  
  • teaching assistants with exam invigilation responsibilities
  • learning guides
  • learning coaches

SASE framework April 2011

The Specification of Apprenticeship Standards for England (SASE) framework in supporting teaching and learning in schools (STL) has been issued.

We have produced two documents summarising the main elements of both the Intermediate Level Apprenticeship (PDF, 56KB) and the Advanced Level Apprenticeship (PDF, 56KB).

Other apprenticeship frameworks for school support staff

There are other apprenticeship frameworks available which are suitable for school support staff. To find out more about them, please visit the the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) website which includes a list of the programmes. You can also search or register for apprenticeship vacancies on the NAS website.
