SBMs can develop their skills further with the National College's diploma and advanced diploma of school business management.
The programmes
The certificate of school business management (CSBM) is aimed at people who have worked in school administration or have recently been appointed as an SBM. It is also suitable for new entrants to the education profession or those who would like to join it.
The diploma of school business management (DSBM) is aimed at experienced SBMs and has been developed to help them play a full part in their school's senior leadership team.
The advanced diploma of school business management (ADSBM) is aimed at experienced SBMs who wish to extend their knowledge and understanding of the changing SBM role. This looks at the role within the context of global economic and social trends, national education and welfare policies, and local developments in the organisation and delivery of services to children and young people.
Each qualification takes around 9–12 months to complete and involves blended learning activities including online modules, face-to-face events, and case study assignments. The CSBM, DSBM and ADSBM also lead to Institute of Administrative Management qualifications and membership.
Further training
The School Business Director Programme provides experienced and aspiring school business directors with a personalised solution to further develop their professional learning.
Participants are expected to be those SBMs who work in the context of increasingly diverse and complex settings, and face new challenges in terms of their leadership and management skills.
