Looking for some extra help with maths or English? There's plenty of support available to help you.
Perhaps you’re thinking of a training course to support you in your role at school, but you need literacy and numeracy qualifications as an entry requirement. Perhaps you’re less happy working with pupils on literacy and numeracy than on other subjects because you lack confidence in your own skills.
Local colleges and training centres offer level 1 and 2 qualifications in mathematics and English. Ask your line manager to help you find a course that suits your needs and fits in with your career development plan.
You can also have a look at the 'Move On' website, which offers a free skills check, a free brush-up course for the literacy and numeracy skills needed to pass the national level 2 tests, and a list of local centres.
The TDA has developed a skills for life tool to help schools to tackle this issue.
