Support work in schools (SWiS) qualifications are designed to provide you with training relevant to your role in school. The qualifications are flexible: take them when you are ready, where you are. They are tailored to your specific development needs and relevant to your role in school.
Are the SWiS qualifications for you?
- Do you work in a school? Either directly employed by the school or by a contractor?
- Do you want to gain a nationally recognised qualification?
- Do you want to enhance your skills and develop your school?
If the answer is ‘yes’ to any of the above, you should consider a SWiS qualification. The SWiS qualifications are free and you will be supported by your training provider during your training. Read our guidance on doing a SWiS to see if the qualification sounds right for you.
What are the SWiS qualifications?
SWiS are available at two levels:
- level 2: award and certificate
- level 3: award, certificate and diploma
Choose optional units that suit you, including:
- supporting literacy and numeracy activities in the classroom
- maintaining site security
- contributing to the development and introduction of recipes and menus
- liaising effectively with parents
Treat the SWiS qualifications as a stepping stone. You may want to continue with the next appropriate level within the suite of SWiS qualifications or explore the range of alternative development opportunities.
