To be counted as a funded continuer receiving TDA support on the centrally funded postgraduate professional development (PPD) scheme, you must have engaged with one of the scheme’s eligible, subsidised programmes between 1 August 2009 and 31 July 2011.
To be eligible for continuer funding, you must be engaged with a programme on the TDA’s PPD scheme leading to either a diploma (120 credits) or a masters (180 credits). Programmes that lead only to a certificate (60 credits) or less cannot attract PPD continuer funding from the TDA. Credits are not transferrable to other programmes or to other providers.
As a result, to be eligible for funding as a continuer on a TDA PPD scheme course, you must:
- Be on a diploma course with 60 credits outstanding
- Be on a masters course with 60 credits outstanding
- Be on a masters course with 120 credits outstanding
Providers offering programmes on the scheme starting towards the end of the academic year (AY) 2010/11 (June or July 2011) should gain confirmation that teachers on these programmes are eligible for continuer funding from the TDA. Providers may not move the start date of their programmes as a result of this guidance. The TDA reserves the right to exclude teachers who embarked on programmes that had their start date moved.
Continuer start eligibility
You must start any ‘continuer’ elements of your programme between 1 August 2011 and 31 July 2013. This gives you 24 months to start both 60 credit parts if you have the maximum of two outstanding PPD funding units (i.e., if you are on a masters course with 120 credits outstanding).
Break in programme
You may have started an eligible programme in line with these criteria and then taken a break between modules. If this is the case, you will be eligible to resume your study on the next part (leading to a diploma or masters) after the break, but will only be eligible for funding so long as you start this or any subsequent part before 31 July 2013.
Providers are asked to contact the TDA at ittfunding@tda.gov.uk if they have any queries regarding this guidance.
