Park School: personal reflection in continuing professional development

Interviewee:  Paul Walsh

Park School is a special school with 106 students and for Deputy Head Paul Walsh and his leadership colleagues, professional learning occurs when people reflect on their experience and their approach to their work.

What the school learnt

Professional learning, like students’ learning, needs to be personalised

The school devised different ways to make continuing professional development (CPD) a reflective experience. They found that personalised CPD was the key to getting teachers to be reflective about their work and concluded professional learning, like students’ learning, should be personalised.
