Challenging schools

Are you an ambitious teacher with even more to offer?

Teaching in a challenging school is an opportunity to see the instant difference you can make to your pupils’ lives. Your efforts could also be financially and professionally rewarded, receiving a £10,000 golden handcuff over three years, having access to a wide range of professional development opportunities, and gaining access to the Masters in Teaching and Learning programme.

The TDA is seeking to encourage more of the most effective teachers to work in challenging secondary schools. A focused range of training and development tools and in-school sessions, along with a peer support network will be available for teachers in challenging schools from September. These tools will equip and enable all school staff to meet the specific requirements, and thrive within these schools.

Newly qualified teachers (NQTs) entering a challenging school will also have early access to the Masters in Teaching and Learning Programme.
