What is different about the revised arrangements?

There are a number of key differences between the existing and revised arrangements for performance management. These changes are designed to make the process clearer, fairer and more effective.

The changes can be grouped into five main sections:

• Planning meeting (including objective setting)

• Classroom observation and other evidence

• Review and link to pay

• Roles and responsibilities

• Process and timing

Over the next few pages, you will be able to get a brief description of these sections and the main changes involved. This summary is no replacement for the revised regulations and accompanying RIG guidance. Everyone involved in performance management, such as reviewers and reviewees, senior school leaders and governors, need to be familiar with these key documents.
