Test content
The ICT (information and communication technology) skills test covers a wide range of
ICT skills using four software applications: presentation; text editor; spreadsheet; and web browser. The use of e-mail is incorporated into the four software applications.
You will be expected to complete a number of computer-based tasks using each of these applications.
Test marking
- Candidates do not necessarily have to pass every section of the test.
- Each test covers each of the applications listed above. Each application section of the test contains four sub tasks.
- Marks are awarded for completing the tasks as indicated by the on screen instructions. It may be possible to complete some tasks in a number of different ways. It is, however, recommended that you do so in the most efficient manner possible.
- For example, when changing all instances of the year 2009 for the year 2010 in a document, it would not be an efficient use of ICT to read through the document looking for each instance of 2009 and replacing it with 2010. The 'find and replace' tool can be used to find every instance of 2009 and replace it with 2010.
